In 1908, John Dodge purchased a 320-acre farm in Rochester, Michigan that would grow into a sprawling country estate with the 110-room Meadow Brook Hall as its centerpiece. The difficulty their cars faced on the sprawling hills and rough dirt roads encouraged John and his brother Horace to stop supplying car parts to Ford Motor Company and instead launch a car able to face any rough terrain- the “dependable Dodge.” Learn more about John and Horace’s rise to success in the Motor City with Meadow Brook Hall Director of Curatorial Services Madelyn Rzadkowolski.
