Habitat for Humanity to Host 3rd Neighborhood Revitalization Event of the Year in Southfield

SOUTHFIELD, MI  Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County will bring its community-driven revitalization initiative, Rock the Block, to Southfield on Thursday, August 14th, uniting corporate partners, community organizations, and dedicated volunteers for a day of service and connection.

The event will begin with a morning kick-off ceremony before teams disperse to work on a variety of beautification and clean-up projects across the neighborhood. Activities will include yard clean-up, trash removal, branch and hedge trimming, lawn mowing, and lawn edging. Volunteers will work across roughly 12 worksites, contributing their time and energy to ensure Southfield residents can live in safe, vibrant, and welcoming neighborhoods.

“Rock the Block is more than a day of service - it’s an opportunity to build relationships, support homeowners, and invest in the long-term stability of our communities,” said Michele Hodges, Executive Director and CEO of Habitat Oakland. “We’re grateful to stand alongside the City of Southfield and our partners to uplift neighborhoods and celebrate what’s possible when we come together with a shared mission.”

Since 2016, Habitat Oakland has proudly partnered with the City of Southfield to host Rock the Block events that bring immediate, visible improvements to local neighborhoods. Each Rock the Block event strengthens connections between homeowners, volunteers, and community partners, creating a ripple effect of revitalization and fostering lasting neighborhood stability across Oakland County.
