Lagniappe in Downtown Rochester!

LAGNIAPPE IN DOWNTOWN ROCHESTER – ENJOY A LITTLE SOMETHING EXTRA ON NOV 24!

ROCHESTER, Mich. – October 21, 2025 – Downtown Rochester will sparkle with holiday spirit as local merchants show their appreciation to the community during the much-anticipated Lagniappe event. Join us on Monday, November 24th, from 6:00 – 9:00 pm, to celebrate Lagniappe’s 52nd anniversary, where "a little something extra" awaits all our valued patrons.

Lagniappe, a Creole word for "a little something extra," embodies the spirit of giving and appreciation. It's the perfect way for the merchants of Downtown Rochester to express their gratitude to the community for their support throughout the year.

Once again, the Rochester Downtown Development Authority (DDA), in collaboration with City of Rochester officials and MDOT, will close Main Street for the event. Main Street will be closed from Second Street to University Drive from 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm. Detour signs will guide traffic around Rochester and Rochester Hills. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure parking, and due to the large crowds, we kindly ask that you leave your four-legged friends at home.

As part of the evening's festivities, the DDA will present "a little something extra" with the debut of The Big, Bright Light Show, sponsored by Fox Automotive. The program will kick off at 6:00 pm on stage located on the crosswalk of W. 4th Street & Main, with the Mayor, Dave LewAllen, and a special guest appearance by Santa Claus, sponsored by Viviano Flower Shop. In partnership with Channel 7, the station will broadcast live from Downtown Rochester starting at 7:00 pm with host Glenda Lewis. At 7:00 pm, The Big, Bright Light Show will illuminate town, followed by a fireworks display, also sponsored by Fox Automotive. Afterward, children can share their Christmas wishes with Santa from 7:15 pm to 9:00 pm.

Following Lagniappe, The Big, Bright Light Show will run nightly from 5:00 pm – midnight through January 18, 2026. Be sure to shop local this holiday season by supporting Downtown Rochester on Plaid Friday (November 28) and Small Business Saturday (November 29). The festive fun continues the following weekend with the Kris Kringle Market, an open-air holiday market, on December 5 & 6.
